The village of Roumanya is situated in South-Central Bulgaria. It comprises a part of Stara Zagora Municipality – Stara Zagora District. The altitude of the area varies between 200 and 300m above sea level. The area size of the village is approximately 10sq.km. And the number of its inhabitants, according to latest data, is 75. The absolute distance from the village to the town of Stara Zagora is 19km, 12km to the village of Nova Zagora, and 43km to the city of Sliven. Important transport and communications routes pass through the territory of the municipality or in its vicinity, namely Trakia Highway, connecting Sofia to Bourgas, the excellent road Svilengrad - Rousse, the railway lines Sofia - Bourgas and Rousse - Podkova, important optical telecommunication cables and the routes of gas mains and that of the future trans-national petroleum pipelines. Stara Zagora is one of the most ancient European cities. The place has been inhabited since the Neolithic age. Three prehistoric sites in the Municipality are of international cultural and historical importance: Bereketska Mogila (Mound), Azmashka Mogila (Mound), the first fully studied Bulgarian mound, and the Mound in which the best preserved Neolithic dwellings in Europe are conserved. The oldest copper mines in Europe, dating back to the end of the 5th millennium BC, were discovered 8 km away from the City in the direction of Stara Zagora Mineral Baths. There are numerous archaeological discoveries near the village of Karanovo from Thracian and Roman times that give evidence for the history of the region, as some of them date back for centuries. The Municipality offers opportunities for various types of tourism such as cultural, health, balneology,eco, rural, sport and business tourism. The lowland landscape and the well-developed road network in the municipality provide good access to Sarnena Sredna Gora Mountain and great opportunities for choosing departure points for tourist trips. The following caves are of tourist and scientific interest: Mecha dupka (Bear's Den), Zepnatinata (The Crack), Zmeyova dupka, Depsiza, Tonchovi dupki, Yamata (the Pit). They are of particular interest to speleologists and botanists, being researched but not cultivated. The villages of the Municipality are famous for their customs, the preserved traditions and the hospitable hosts. There are museum collections, old churches, cultural and historical monuments in many of them, while in their surroundings there are small dam lakes, which are preferred by fishing fans. Minyo Balkanski Ethnographic complex in the village of Oryahovitsa is of special interest. The wine cellar in the village offers tasting of wines such as Cabernet and Merlot. The area offers opportunities for hunting tourism. Mazalat state game-breeding station has also a small game reserve near Stara Zagora where pheasant, quail and predators can be hunted. The sports facilities of the municipality are well-developed. The most attractive sports facilities include the new municipal tennis complex, the horse stables in the Thracian University and in the village of Zmeyovo, which teach horsemanship and provide opportunities for horse riding.
