The small village of Benkovski with its 166 inhabitants is situated in South – Central Bulgaria and is part of Stara Zagora Municipality, Stara Zagora District. This charming village is located 52 km. from the town of Sliven, 40 km. from the town of Stara Zagora and 155 km. from the sea town of Bourgas.The Stara Zagora municipality encompasses the vast fields of the Upper Thracian Lowlands and parts of the Sarnena Sredna Gora Mountain. According to its physico geographical characteristics, Stara Zagora belongs to the Transitional Continental Area with its typical softer winters, hot summers, a summer maximum and a winter minimum of the precipitation. The high percentage of soft weather - 59.4% - is typical of the region.The Starozagorski Mineralni Bani (Stara Zagora Mineral Baths) is a balneological resort, situated 15 km to the northwest from Stara Zagora, in the south forest branches of the Sarnena Gora (Sredna Gora), at an altitude 370 m above sea level. The hills surrounding the hollow are from 600 to 800 m high. Òhey are covered with oak, hornbeam, hazel and artificial pine forests. The resorts' climate is determined by its boundary location between the Subtropical and the Temperate Continental Area and its low-mountain location and softened by the Mediterranean influence. The winters are warm, with rare and weak snowfalls. The summer days are sunny and hot, but not stuffy, and the nights - cool and pleasant. The average annual temperature is about 11îÑ, and the average July temperature - about 24îÑ. The winds are rare, and the foggy days per year are few.
